At first glance Nearmap looks the same as Google Maps; however this system has some interesting features including TimeView. TimeView provides you with the ability to view the PhotoMaps captured on different dates. Using this tool, you can see change over time. Try it out.

A short film by Vincenzo Perrella & Dan Osborn, which takes a satorial look at the City of Perth. This could be used in the classroom as a discussion starter or primer for the issues raised such as:

  • Resident population of Perth
  • Trading hours and its efect on population
  • Urban morphology
  • Public transit systems

Tom Worthington has released a new bookGreen Technology Strategies” which is about how to reduce carbon emissions and achieve other environmental benefits by using computers and telecommunications technology. It is designed to be used within an online course for professionals, using mentored and collaborative learning techniques. Therefore it is of particular use to educators, especially Geography, Earth and Environmental Science etc.
